Getting Started
Learn how to install, configure, and start using IronGuard for maximum protection.
Chrome Extension Installation:
- Open Chrome and navigate to
chrome://extensions/ - Enable "Developer mode" (toggle in top-right corner)
- Click "Load unpacked" and select the
chrome-uploadfolder - The IronGuard extension will appear in your toolbar
Verification: Click the extension icon to see the status. It should show "ACTIVE" with a green indicator.
After Installation:
- Extension automatically activates and starts protecting your browser
- Visit any website - IronGuard analyzes domains in real-time (<50ms)
- Trusted domains (Google, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) are auto-whitelisted
- Check the extension popup to see protection status and recent actions
What to Expect: IronGuard works silently in the background. You'll only see notifications when threats are detected or warnings are issued.
Access Settings:
- Right-click the extension icon → "Options"
- Or click the extension icon → "SETTINGS" button
Key Settings:
- Master Protection: Toggle ON/OFF to enable/disable all protection
- Protection Mode: Choose STRICT, NORMAL, or RELAXED
- Whitelist: Add trusted domains that should always be allowed
- Notifications: Enable/disable desktop alerts for blocks and warnings
Features & Settings
Understand IronGuard's features, settings, and how to customize your protection.
Add Domain to Whitelist:
- Open Settings (right-click extension → Options)
- Navigate to "ADVANCED CONFIGURATION" section
- Enter domain (e.g.,
example.com) in the whitelist input field - Click "ADD" - domain is immediately whitelisted
Remove Domain: Click "REMOVE" next to any domain in the whitelist list.
Auto-Whitelisting: IronGuard automatically whitelists trusted domains like Google, Facebook, YouTube, and other major platforms.
Desktop Notifications:
- Enable notifications to receive alerts when threats are blocked
- Notifications appear as desktop popups with threat details
- You can customize notification frequency in Settings
Extension Popup: The extension icon always shows your current protection status. Click it to see recent actions and statistics.
Silent Mode: Disable notifications for silent operation - protection still works, but without alerts.
STRICT Mode:
- Blocks all suspicious domains immediately
- Issues warnings for new domains (< 30 days old)
- Maximum protection - recommended for high-risk environments
NORMAL Mode (Default):
- Blocks confirmed threats and phishing patterns
- Warns about suspicious domains
- Balanced protection - recommended for most users
RELAXED Mode:
- Only blocks confirmed malicious domains
- Minimal warnings
- Best for experienced users who want minimal interruptions
Security & Privacy

Local On-Device Detection:
- All domain analysis happens locally in your browser
- Your browsing history and visited URLs are never sent to us
- Your browsing activity remains completely private
No Tracking:
- No analytics, behavioral tracking, ad networks, or user profiling
- Personal data is processed only for optional Pro accounts and billing
- GDPR, CCPA, and LGPD compliant (see our Privacy Policy)

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Working:
- Check if extension is enabled:
chrome://extensions/ - Reload the extension (click reload button)
- Check browser console for errors (F12 → Console)
- Restart Chrome if issues persist
False Positives:
- If a legitimate site is blocked, add it to your whitelist
- Check Protection Mode - RELAXED mode reduces false positives
- Report false positives via Contact page for review
Performance Issues:
- IronGuard is optimized for speed (<50ms analysis)
- If you experience slowdowns, check other extensions
- Disable unnecessary browser extensions
Optimization Tips:
- IronGuard is designed for minimal performance impact
- Domain analysis completes in <50ms (faster than light!)
- All processing is local - no network latency
If Experiencing Slowdowns:
- Check Chrome Task Manager:
Shift+Esc - Identify resource-heavy extensions
- Disable or remove conflicting extensions
- Clear browser cache and cookies
System Requirements: IronGuard works on any modern Chrome browser. No special requirements.
Q: Does IronGuard slow down my browser?
A: No. IronGuard analyzes domains in <50ms locally. You won't notice any performance impact.
Q: Can I use IronGuard with other security extensions?
A: Yes. IronGuard works alongside other extensions without conflicts.
Q: Does IronGuard collect my browsing data?
A: No. Threat detection is 100% local—your browsing history and visited sites never leave your device. We only process your email and billing details if you choose to create a Pro account.
Q: How do I report a false positive?
A: Visit the Contact page and provide the domain URL. We'll review and update our detection.
Q: Is IronGuard free?
A: Core protection is free. Premium features available via subscription. See Pricing page.
